Summer Solstice and Nourishing the Fire Element
Happy Summer Solstice! I absolutely LOVE this time of year. In Chinese medicine, we're entering the phase of the year that corresponds to the FIRE element. Here's how you can tend to your Fire Element to have a healthy and fun summer...
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
You can nourish your Fire element by getting your feet on the earth and deepening your connection to nature. Go outdoors, hike, run, and swim! Aerobic activity strengthens the heart, the organ associated with Fire.
FUN, JOY, LAUGHTER
The emotion associated with Fire is joy! Fire is all about having fun and being spontaneous! Connect with your friends and family. Open your heart by sharing, listening, laughing, and loving.
ILLUMINATION
The longer days mean more daylight to tap into creative pursuits and passions. The Fire element is all about illuminating and enjoying the fruits of the seeds (plans or visions) we planted earlier in the year. This is also the time to reflect on your own guiding light, making sure you're still aligned to your passions and on track with your goals.
FOOD & WATER
Make sure to stay well hydrated with clean purified water and eat cooling foods like cucumbers, watermelon, and greens.
